European Business Development Manager Pharma

Key Tasks

  • Client Acquisition: Identifying potential clients, establishing contact, and demonstrating how the company’s instrumentation can meet their research needs.
  • Market Research: Conducting in-depth market analysis to identify trends, new markets, and customer needs specific to pharmaceutical research instrumentation.
  • Sales Goals: Setting, tracking, and achieving sales targets and KPIs for the assigned region or product line.
  • Product Promotion: Organizing and participating in conferences, workshops, and webinars to promote the company's products and capabilities.
  • Collaborative Sales Strategy: Working with marketing, research and development, and other departments to align sales strategies with broader company objectives.
  • Feedback Loop: Gathering client feedback on product performance and relaying this information to the product development team for continuous improvement.
  • Revenue Growth: Identifying upsell and cross-sell opportunities to increase revenue within existing accounts.
  • Internal Collaboration: Close collaboration with the local account managers, application engineers, service & support organisation.
you will have an overall responsibility to drive the business- and market development within the Pharma sector in close collaboration with the senior management team in Europe and the HQ in Japan as well as with local sales representatives. The role is entrepreneurial with a possibility for the right person to create visible results on a European level as well as being part of the creation of an international business team working with world class products.

Your Background

You have an academic degree in natural sciences and several years’ of experience from the Pharma sector and marketing and sales projects in Europe. As well you have a level of proficiency in all aspects of the sales process, including marketing of products, lead generation, negotiation and customer relationship management.

You also have a strong understanding of pharmaceutical research processes, laboratory equipment, and the specific applications of the instrumentation being sold. You also have a very good level in English both written and spoken. Apart from preferably living within commuting distance to Munich, Paris or London you are willing to travel up to 30 % of your working hours.

Background to the recruitment:

Hamamatsu sees a strong potential growth opportunity within the Pharma industry in Europa and Globally. The first step to create a new European commercial team focusing on this sector will be to recruit a Business Development Manager (BDM) with experience from the pharmaceutical sector. The right person should have knowledge of marketing, sales, and product management of instrumentation for pharma research. and a blend of scientific knowledge, commercial acumen, and strategic thinking. The role will be placed preferably in either Germany/Munich, England/London or France/Paris.
