The Faculty of Business, Economics and Information Systems at the University of Passau invites applications for the tenured civil-service post of: Chair of Business Administration with a focus on Accounting and Auditing (pay grade W3) The Chair is concerned with accountancy for the purpose of providing business information to external recipients (shareholders, lenders, suppliers, customers, the state etc.), but also for managerial purposes as well as questions related to corporate governance. Applicants are expected to have placed the focus of their work on the empirical study of normative and institutional accounting principles according to German and international standards as well their impact on the preparation, analysis and auditing of annual financial statements and on farther-reaching business decisions. The successful candidate will have a distinguished, internationally competitive research track record, as demonstrated by publications in the leading academic journals for their academic discipline. Potential linkages of their work to the guiding themes of the University of Passau - such as digitalisation and sustainability - as well as experience in the acquisition of external funds would be a distinct advantage. The School of Business, Economics and Information Systems is a young and particularly innovative faculty with dynamic drive. Economic and societal relevance, a drive for innovation and an interdisciplinary approach are the pillars of our research activities, which comprise both basic and applied research as well as knowledge transfer. Our focus areas are Accounting, Finance and Taxation (AFT), Economics (ECON), Management, Innovation, Marketing (MIM), Information Systems (WINFO) and Quantitative Methods. The successful candidate will be educated to doctoral level and either possess a formal postdoctoral qualification, such as the German 'Habilitation', or equivalent academic achievements, garnered within or outside the higher education system or as part of a prior assistant professor or comparable role (e.g. German 'Juniorprofessur'). He or she will have demonstrated pedagogical aptitude and academic excellence, the latter being generally established on the basis of the quality of his/her doctoral research and subsequent achievements, as applicable. In accordance with art. 10(3)(1) of the Bavarian Higher Education Employment Act (BayHSchPG), candidates must not be more than 52 years of age at the time of their appointment.
